Love, Pickleball, and a Dog Despiser!
When Merry returns to her quaint hometown of Reindeer Falls, Minnesota, with a broken heart and adopts a fiercely loyal dog, she never expected her Aunt Liz to play matchmaker. But with a promise to her late mother to see Merry happily married by 30, Aunt Liz is determined to find her a perfect mate through her Nifty Knitters club, yoga class, and pickleball players. As Merry reluctantly goes on a series of disastrous blind dates, she finds herself drawn to her grumpy building super, Joel Connor, and his feline companion, Tom Kat. But with Joel's strict no-dog policy and the threat of eviction looming, Merry's chances at finding love seem slim. When Merry Ernst moves back to her small town of Reindeer Falls, Minnesota, population 9500, it's with a heart broken by her Ex-husband, Derrick Edward Stone. She adopts Fido, short for Fidelity, a small fiercely loyal terrier.
"Time's a-wasting," Aunt Liz declares. She made a promise to Merry's deceased mother that Merry would be happily wedded by age 30. Her mission is to find Merry a perfect mate through her Nifty Knitters club, yoga class, or pickleball players, or anywhere she suspects there could be a potential mate.
After the fourth potential mate, whose snooty attitude drives Merry away from their coffee meeting, she begs Aunt Liz for a break from her matchups.
In the meantime, the super at her building, Joel Connor, is giving her grief about Fido. His companion is a black cat, Tom Kat, that is often perched on his shoulder. Merry secretly calls him the dog despiser, and denies any spark between them.
Complicating matters, Merry's job is eliminated at a real estate management firm. Unemployed and with Joel and Tom Kat, a problem, the owners install a no-dogs allowed rule, and she is evicted. How can she find love when she's about to be evicted by the dog despiser?
