In 1940, wrote a long letter to his elder son, David. It was hand-written, in fountain pen, and was completed over a series of dates through 1940. By the time he had finished, the letter was 138 pages long. The letter is essentially autobiographical and it describes ' . It includes Theodore's earliest memories in Bathgate, his childhood, his family, his medical training in Edinburgh and anecdotes about his medical colleagues in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and elsewhere. Theodore was born in 1869 and died in 1948. His writing provides a record of the times through which he lived and about the people with whom he had contact. The purpose of this publication is to make Theodore's letter more widely available as a record of family history and of the times through which he lived.
