The Moon & Her Phases
is Amberlee E. Balli's second book of Poetry.
goes into detail of abuse as a child, abuse in relationships and then ending the book off with expressing her love she found not only within herself but also finding a healthy love within someone else. When Amberlee went through the process of writing
she states:
"For a really long time, I only knew a toxic love, I only knew on how to hate myself, and to hate others. It was as I would say -
"One of my many phases."
I went through the process of sadness of my past, anger of my past, regret, and/or anything negative. But as I grew up, and saw that the only way I was truly able to become the woman I am right now, was going through all those events. I heard this from an older woman I once knew, she stated -
"Your past does not dictate who you are, and where you go moving forward. Your past is not your full story, it is only apart of it, do not let it consume you."
And that was something that has stuck with me for so many years. When writing my secondary book, I felt a lot more emotions, and hurt. I had never shared such a deep part of my past until now. It was as if I felt guilt for another persons actions, and what they had done to me. The Moon & Her Phases is a piece where you can feel and be heard, this is for me, and for you too."
