Landon "Sonny" Cox, a jazz musician from Cincinnati, made a pit stop in Chicago on the way to California and never left. He became the basketball coach at King High School. But Chicago already has a "King" of the hardwood, the Simeon Wolverines. They've won the last two city championships and are gunning for a threepeat while the upstart, King had yet to even make it to the championship game. An outsider in a foreign land, coach Cox is not welcome neither is his brand of basketball. Taking down the Wolverines is a tall task and in the Windy City, their is only room for one King. Will Simeon be deposed or will "Sonny" Cox remain the court jester?
