At the age of 92, the author decided to publish the collection of his life stories. The stories were originally published in the Rochester Sentinel (Rochester, Indiana) between April 2009 and January 2015 under the heading: "Ben Severns Remembers." They are about the life of a boy who grew up on a farm in northern Indiana in the 1920s and 1930s, how dyslexia prevented him from graduating from high school, and his struggle to get ahead in spite of it. The stories continue as he leaves the farm, attends trade school, goes to work in a factory and goes off to war during World War II. They cover his marriage to a girl from Boston and what it was like to live in the old city of Boston before moving back to Indiana. Without a high school diploma, Ben worked as a Quality Control Engineer then as a Manufacturing Engineer. When he retired, he had worked for Controls Division, later the Singer Manufacturing Company, for 23 years. Ben's stories continue as he builds a large sailing vessel. He and his wife lived aboard for 2 1/2 years as they cruised the Great Lakes, the Eastern Seaboard and the Bahamas. This collection of stories is appropriate for anyone who wants to read living history.
