In Central Harlem lives a young woman from Ecuador and a graduate of Columbia University, she welcomes life's challenges and obstacles with grace and tenacity. But, when she falls ill at a holiday work party, she comes to find out that she has endometriosis, a chronic disease which caused cysts in her ovaries and the cause of three surgeries. With this diagnosis, she faces new challenges that other people her age may not have to consider, like her ability to have children. In this book, she shares her painful reality of living with endometriosis, the racial and sexist discriminations in the medical field, and her passionate plea to help women understand that the pains they experience are real and must be taken seriously with medical action. Her mission is to shine a light on this all too common yet overlooked and ignored disease affecting women everywhere.
