The High Divide

Olympic National Park, a yellow seaplane has been illegally flying over Bogachiel Peak for decades. It has no identifying numbers and its pilot wears a mask. For the rest of seasonal park rangers up on The High Divide, it's just some Olympic lore they'll tell their friends back home. Not for Boston. Three weeks ago, he sat beside his dying father at MassGeneral, a man he barely knew anymore. What happened between them? Why did he become a workaholic one day in 2009 when Boston was 12? In reply, his father scratched out seven blue words on a dry erase board: Bogi Peak, follow the plane, to cedar So later that summer when Boston sees the plane drop something into an isolated valley far below, he shoulders his pack and leaves the trail. He finds a valley, filled with enormous fir trees. Some have cameras in their branches. One has a net. And it is baited with an elk.
