Many of Gurdjieff adepts would like to know where and how Gurdjieff discovered the wisdom of the East that he joined to the energy of the West. Jon Tapsell has displayed and elaborated in his book the Central Asian sources that informed Gurdjieff's ideas and writings, essentially the "truth" he sought in his travels before returning to Europe in 1912 where he incorporated his knowledge in the Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man.
