The Envious Mates

A certain Kpa Mende Chief once had two wives who competed badly with each other in order to win his reputable love and favor. One of them, the head wife, was called Majoe and the second wife was called Keima. Smoldering resentment and hostility were always serious to the force in their relationship. In order to avoid adding to the fury, the chief took every little precaution to be neutral. He literally built a separate hut for each of them, and he lived in his own beautiful hut. Each of them slept with him two weeks at a time. He took care not to show too much affection to either of them openly. However, whenever he bought a traditional dress for one wife, he bought another one for the other mate. Despite that, the women hated each other ruthlessly and fought all the time.
