What is the purpose of religion? I believe it is to get close to God. Not a sky god, but the omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, un-created power of the universe. I met a person of wisdom forty-two years ago who knew how to do that. Not only to get close, but also to merge with God, to become what's known as Man-God, God-Man. Man in this case being the zenith of human spiritual attainment, therefore non-gender. By contemplating that Jesus didn't get crucified, and in fact lived on to teach more, I came up with this storyline. It helped me share my reflections on the thousands of years of the monotheistic tradition. I also share some of my deep imaginings and insights from the last forty-two years. Thirdly, I introduce the "Know Thyself Curriculum," that I think all prophets, saints, and wise people taught to their closest students. This curriculum, was given to me by my teacher, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, with whom I lived from 1980 until 1986 when he died. I want people from all spiritual traditions to have access to this, because I don't see how one can merge with God without this depth of self-discovery. I especially wrote this for all those whose faith has been shaken. It is my wish to re-invigorate you, by showing that the divine knowledge of our traditions may have some gaps that we need to fill. I hope you'll agree, when you read this book, that the deep spiritual insights I've shared here are needed on the path to God.
