When we look at the meaning of forgiveness, it seems very simple. Original meanings of " " include " ." So when God tells us to forgive He is simply telling us to let go of that offense or injury, forsake it, and leave it alone. It sounds so easy. But it can be very difficult, especially considering the trauma that many have experienced The scriptures about forgiveness are very straightforward, as well. Yet it seems that even though these scriptures seem to clearly define our Father's instructions, people still struggle with unforgiveness even in the church. As I was thinking about this, I heard Holy Spirit say, "Talk about the COMPLETE work of forgiveness." His emphasis on "COMPLETE" indicated that there must be incomplete work as well. If your life is not aligning with the word of God ... if the enemy is still free to afflict you at any given time ... if victory keeps eluding you ... that is an indication that something in your life is incomplete. The first and easiest thing to do is ask God to check your heart for unforgiveness, some offense, or injury you have not let go of. If He reveals something, then release it by faith. Seek ministry that can help you discover the root of an unforgiveness that won't shake loose. Of course, I know that authentic, complete forgiveness requires the supernatural power of God. But the first step is a humble choice to forgive regardless of the circumstances. A person can continue to manage the unforgiveness in life, but it will take a huge toll, and eventually, they will have to acknowledge everything the enemy has been stealing from them because of it. But you won't see it clearly until you make a humble choice to be willing to forgive ... then keep on forgiving as the Lord reveals the unrighteous things hidden in your heart. It will start out as an act of faith, but must you do it with genuineness and sincerity. Then God will provide the supernatural power to manifest true forgiveness in your heart and take you on a journey to COMPLETE freedom. Once you arrive at the end of your journey, everything you went through to get there will be worth it. There IS peace that surpasses ALL understanding (Philippians 4:6) and joy that IS unspeakable and full of glory (1 Peter 1:8). Keep trusting our beloved Heavenly Father and keep going until you get there!
