In this second chapter of The Clock that Told Time series, it becomes abundantly clear that something catastrophic has happened to Mr. Dokken's time portal. After being sent on a voyage through space and time, Mr. John Page seemingly awakens on the wrong Earth, in the wrong ribbon of time. What John finds is a world that is remarkably similar to the one he left, but drastically different in many fundamental ways. In this time ribbon he experiences new adventures while meeting up with some very interesting people. Some of whom prove to be unexpectedly familiar, and rather puzzling. Being cut off from the planet he intends to save, and totally unaware of the mission's mishap, his life becomes fueled with completing his mission at any cost. Back home, the last surviving outpost of people, race against time to find a way of restoring life to a world that had been destroyed by human ignorance. With their time portal damaged, seemingly beyond repair, they must salvage the mission that will restore life to their smoldering planet. To look straight into the human soul is often difficult and dangerous, but it is a task worthy of the Earth's most gifted scientists. To reach out and touch your own essence existing in an alternate expanse of time can suck the life out of even the hardiest of souls. But to save your civilization from the ultimate death is worth even the most drastic of sacrifices. Traveling through time possesses many perils, the most cumbersome of them is getting around the certainty that when the exact same particles meet up in the same universe, they tend to cancel each other out. It is a paradox that has no solution, or maybe someone has discovered a way around it.
