This cookbook is a collection of food I mainly eat in my younger years (1970s and 80s). I have made the recipes to reflect that I was a vegetarian. You can easily replace beans, lentils, etc. with the protein of your choice. Or add to the existing recipe. The recipes are cheap, healthy, storable, and easy to make, with easy-to-get ingredients. Beans and lentils are a good alternative source of protein. They are easier to store than meat, healthier than meat, and much cheaper. Most of them can be eaten as leftovers for a few days and as school lunches the next day. Many of the recipes would help balance the junk food given to children on their birthdays. My kids loved spinach pie and lasagna, etc. There has been an explosion of highly processed foods and also super healthy food as well since the 1970s. Like everything in life, most things are eternal: love, healthy food, work, sleep and fun. For me, a big part of living in Castlemaine was the healthy, wholesome food I eat every day. So, I think there is still a need for a cookbook like this, healthy, wholesome, and easy food to eat every day for every age group and every family. I recently read that Queen Elizabeth of England loved her baked beans on toast, the same as me. And like I said earlier that the book is vegetarian, with the option of replacing beans and tofu with meat. Vegetarians live long healthy lives. You don't have to eat meat if you don't want to. Beans and tofu are healthy and cheap and easy to store.
