the Call of North (Illustrated)

tells the tale of Graehme, Ned Stewart's father, who was accused of adultery and killed, although he was innocent. Ned decide to avenge his father, but is captured and sent on the long journey to death "la longue traverse". The story is set in the Hudson Bay region of Canada, and the author uses a smattering of French throughout the book.
