The Arabian Nights [Blu-ray] in Bloomington, MN

This '40s actioner take on the Arabian Nights stories told by British explorer Sir Richard Burton (not the actor!), is a colorful and lavish production that was nominated for Oscars for Best Cinematography, Best Interior Decoration, Best Sound, and Best Score. The plot is simple: the rightful heir to the throne of the Caliph is envied by a jealous brother who'll stop at nothing to seize the throne for himself. They're both after the same dame, the lovely Scheherazad. The good-guy prince takes off on a series of adventures in search of the famous lamp.
