Abstract Introduction: The PMP is a pedagogical tool developed́ from the mid-1960s in the United States. The aim of this work was to evaluate the impact of learning with the PMP in practical nephrology teaching, as well as learners' perceptions of the value of the PMP in learning and assessment. Methods: We conducted a prospective evaluative study in the nephrology department of Mongi Slim la Marsa Hospital. We included DCEM2 externs. We prepared a PMP in electronic format on the management of threatening hyperkalemia in the chronic hemodialysis patient. The teaching session included a briefing phase, followed by the pre-test, the individual PMP session, the group debriefing phase, the post-test and the satisfaction questionnaire. Results: Thirty students participated in the study. All students combined, 83% scored average on the PMP assessment. The PMP led to a significant improvement in test scores, and consequently to the acquisition of new knowledge.
