Any work of art takes time. In the case of a tapestry, it starts as an idea. The weaver gathers the raw materials and the tools to work them-thread, needles, shuttle, loom-prepares them, weaves them, and tamps them. Slowly, bit by bit, an image starts to appear; however, it's not until completion that the designer's vision is apparent.Randy Valimont wasn't sure what to make of the raw materials of his life. At first, he couldn't see how anything beautiful could be woven from some of the threads-a birth mother who abandoned him without looking at his face and birth father who didn't even know he existed-that made up his life.
