In Tails, the animals woof and meow intelligently. That's called anthropomorphism and has an ancient lineage in books - The Uncle Remus stories, for instance, as well as any number of comic strip 'characters' you greet every Sunday in the 'funnies.' However unlikely animal 'talk' may be, recent studies have shown that dogs in close relationships with their people communicate and understand in much greater depth than previously thought possible. Anybody with a dog knows their personal life is constantly scrutinized with accuracy. Just put on those particular shoes and see what happens to Fido's tail!
