This book is a biography of the Ukrainian national leader Symon Petljura and his role as President of the Ukrainian National Republic in the years 1918-1923. His attempt at establishing an independent Ukrainian state failed due to resistance by all neigbouring entities. This monograph seeks to explain Petljuras designs on national independence and the grounds for his defeat.
