Most of us in Swamp Country are taught at a young age how to live off the land and water if we have to, knowing that nothing in life is a sure thing. Most families in our neck of the bayou have a fisherman, or hunter or two in the household, who brings home wild game and fish to cook for supper, and keeps our freezers filled until Hurricane Season. Then when a storm hits, flood waters rise, or someone is getting married, or divorced, a new young'un is on the way, or someone has gone to meet the Good Lord, we come together and cook something to soothe our souls.
