Surviving in the Shadows

How many times have each one of us heard about the stories of victims of violent crimes, and wondered how they ended up in this situation and why didn't they just leave? "Surviving in the Shadows" is a collection of real-life experiences from people who have escaped from trafficking, domestic violence and political oppression. Through understanding from the point of view of those who have been trapped in these forms of modern-day slavery, we can help victims to break free and heal as well as prevent more people from becoming enslaved in this insidious cycle of violence and trauma. Our hope is that through allowing these personal stories to be heard, we will be able to increase awareness and compassion so that we can work individually and collectively to discern the root causes and co-create lasting solutions.
