This thesis deals with studies relating to the development of preconcentration methods based on solid-phase extraction metals Bi, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in natural and saline waters and determination by ICP-AES and development of sorption methods for the removal of metal pollutants, Co, Fe, Pb and Mn in water by sorption on zeolite 4A, zeolite 13X and bentonite. Preconcentration methods based on solid-phase extraction for the determination of Bi, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in natural waters by ICPAES technique have been developed in four approaches. Column solid-phase extraction has several advantages over liquid-liquid extraction. This method is more suitable for the combination of AAS as well as ICP-AES. It allows preconcentration from a larger sample volume, establishing higher concentration factor, simple storage and transportation of pre-treated sample. In the first method the heavy metals Bi, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in water were determined by ICP-AES after preconcentration on a column loaded using Amberlite XAD-7 coated with NaDDTC and pipDTC. The sorbed metals were eluted with HNO3 solution.
