Soul Pilgrim

have always been a very one-track band: they play surf instrumentals, pure and simple, and with all of the kitschy smoothness and danceability that this endeavor implies in the '90s. delivers what's expected, although it does feature a reliance on Hammond organ sounds that's not quite as pronounced on the band's other releases; on most tracks, this creates a rump-shaking groove that manages to get a step or two beyond traditional surf revival conventions. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
