Some of that "Bea" Wisdom is a tribute to the warm memory of my dear mother, Beatrice Robertson. Even when I was a young girl, people sought me out for answers to various dilemmas in their life. I did not really understand why. I would simply tell them what Bea had told me, and it would work for them. As I grew older and began developing a relationship with God and studying His word, I discovered that the counsel that my mother had given me was scripturally based. However, when talking to me, she rarely prefaced her words with “the Bible says.” She knew what was written in Isaiah 55:11—”so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” She knew that if she kept saying “the Bible says,” we would probably have ignored her. Bea knew that all she had to do was speak the word, and God would do the rest! She was wise enough to know that because she was feeding us the word of God, it could not fail. Because of Bea, people who are in my sphere of influence, often unknowingly are the benefactors of the wisdom my mother shared with me. I am forever grateful to God for giving me Bea as my mother. Because of her godly influence, the life she lived, and the wisdom she imparted, I have been able to navigate the waters of life; deal with difficulties, perplexities, and uncertainties; and still have joy. I only wish that my daughter Samantha had known her. Samantha was born October 7, 1988, more than 2 decades after my mother’s transition. Bea would have just loved her. In some ways, she is just like her grandmother. Thank God for DNA. When Bea departed this life, she left me a magnanimous treasure, one worth more than money. She left me wisdom! And what she gave me, I added to it, and I do not intend to stop. I have found out that wisdom really is the principal thing. So, I’m going to share some of the wisdom morsels Bea shared with me that have blessed my life. You will not find many dates in the material shared because this is not a chronology. The “when” is unimportant because wisdom is timeless. It was good enough for her then and it is good enough for me now. I have no doubt that it will be good enough for you, too.
