This a story that was traditionally told to the children by the Lakxota grandmothers. It is a story about Snapping Turtle (Pxatkasha). Snapping Turtle leaves to go hunting and when he returns, he finds that an enemy tribe has come and stolen his wife. He goes to war and leaves on a journey to find his wife. He meets some characters along the way that join him to help rescue his wife. This is a story about what happens to Snapping Turtle and his friends as they journey to find Snapping Turtle's wife. You will get a chuckle at some of the characters he meets and you will feel bad about what happens to them. This is a story that includes both the English and Lakxota language version so you can learn the Lakxota language as you enjoy the story. It includes a language test and answer key at the end of the book so you can test your knowledge or use it in a classroom to teach the lakxota language.
