This is a crisp, lively adaptation of The Imaginary Invalid, by Moliere. Anatole, a hypochondriac, imagines himself to be sick most of the time. He considers himself afflicted with numerous diseases which he hires doctors to treat by ridiculous and costly means. Anatole's wife and two daughters suffer from his obsession. His second wife will benefit by his death, and looks forward to his demise. Anatole commands his young daughter to marry a physician in order that medical expenses can be eliminated. The mother and daughter scheme to prevent the plans. It is set in Paris in 1666. It's a bit of a farce--funny, ridiculous, and fun.
