She Is My Mommy!: A Learning Experience with Buddy the School Bus (An Adoption Story)

Many transracial adoptive parents feel anxious on the first day of school of their little one. It is a big step for both the adoptive parent(s) and the child. Parents can use this book as an example to their little one about the outside world. Both the good and the bad their child may face, once he/she is out of the parent's protective shield. Racer, the rabbit was the one to bring the question in a mean and hurtful way, which brought Pete, the panda to tears. Fortunately, Buddy the gentle school bus came to the rescue. But at the end, what made all the difference was Pete's honest explanation. Pete's adoptive parents did a great job of equipping him with the right tools, by explaining how and why he is different. This book also addresses the issue that kids always wonder; why a birth mother gives her child away.
