Shadow of the Council

All Zach Baran wants is to get through his first term under the ancient council without catching any unwanted attention. He was always told that someone from his planet should be happy just to be accepted and he should keep to himself. Everything changes when he's chosen to train under an elite council member. At first he's drawn in by the fiery Madison Adonne and can't seem to stay away, no matter how many warnings he gets. As frequent drills hint at a more dangerous threat looming, Madison helps him to hone his newfound powers through rigorous training. When he's stuck outside during a drill, he begins to realize something is off with the all-powerful council... and his new friend is hiding more than she lets on. As he gets too close to the council's secrets he becomes trapped in a war spread across hundreds of planets. Can he summon enough power to save them both from a deadly attack?
