This is the first book in the Mazy and Gracie series. It is written from the perspective of Mazy Jane, a purebred Siberian husky. This children's book begins with Mazy waking up Gracie on a Saturday morning. It goes on to show all of the things that Mazy and Gracie do on this particular Saturday.
Gracie, who does not have to go to work, takes Mazy on a day trip. The book gives the impression that even though Gracie is the one who is in charge, Mazy is the one who controls most of what happens that day. This book displays comedic elements and shows the reality of owning a dog.
This story not only presents core values like forgiveness and gratitude, it also gives young readers an appreciation for art. This book contains over 30 detailed illustrations.
Why do so many children's books contain illustrations that look cartoon-ish? Some children, from a very young age, aspire to create hyper realistic pieces. This book caters to that select group of children. It helps them to grow in their skill as they appreciate and create realistic illustrations.
This book is matte instead of gloss and there are two coloring pages included at the end. This was done so that young artists can not only color the blank pages at the end, but also add whatever they like to the illustrations themselves.
