A Grecian princess vows her virginity to Christ. When Diocletian the Roman Emperor endeavors to win her hand and is rejected, he is enraged and throws her into prison. Philomena courageously endures the tortures he devises and is assisted by heaven. In the end, the virgin Philomena wins the glorious palm of martyrdom.
