When World War II explodes at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, everything changes for the people of Hawaii.
Schoolteacher Rose McKenzie loves her home on Maui-its beauty, its people, and her little farm in a peaceful rural community.
Then war begins, and Rose's friend and farm manager, Isao Tanaka, is unjustly interned as a suspected Japanese spy. Now Rose must work to free him and to protect his heartbroken family, while her beloved Hawaii, at risk of enemy invasion, lives under strict martial law.
When U.S. military troops land on Maui for vital training, their arrival brings a measure of security-and for Rose, a sweetheart, a handsome Army doctor, Captain Jack Quinn.
But can Rose, fighting the military establishment to free her friend, love a man for whom Isao's race means he must be an enemy?
Love will win, of course.
