Previous studies have documented that increased oil production during the injection of immiscible CO2 is mainly due to oil viscosity, oil swelling and the increase in dissolved gas. This study will attempt to focus and fill this gap by investigate the role played by rock mineralogy, brine composition, carbonated water and polar compounds present in a crude oil on rock wettability under conditions of a typical shallow reservoir. Also, In this study, pendant drop techniques and molecular dynamic (MD) simulations were combined to investigate the effect of adding CO2 on the water/oil/rock interface.
