was released in 1989, after his first two albums made him a very popular country musician. It may have been a little quick to release a holiday record, but
Van Shelton
was at a peak of popularity, so it made sense to release a record at that point. And
Sings Christmas
wasn't a bad album, even if it wasn't particularly distinctive. He is in good voice throughout the record and does a nice job with the standards, even if the newer songs are somewhat weak. Ultimately,
