Rediscovering S.P. Rolt Triscott: Monhegan Island Artist and Photographer in Bloomington, MN

In 1902, esteemed watercolorist Samuel Peter Rolt Triscott (1846–1925), enamored with Monhegan’s beauty and remoteness, became the first artist to live there year-round, painting watercolors and oils and producing hand-tinted photographs.
Richard Malone’s writing complements Triscott’s masterful landscapes and glass plate photos, many of which are paired to show the same Monhegan vistas.
