Recognizing, Identifying and Handling Persons with Mental Illness Developmental Disabilities

The purpose of this writing is to inform and educate readers - in particular first responders - about the importance of understanding the complexities of mental illness and developmental disabilities. It is the intention of this writer to provide a tool for the reader to learn about mental illness and learning disabilities and to develop and understanding of how one may approach and handle such persons using the least amount of physical force to detain an individual, while keeping the individual safe as well as the first responders and the public.
