There are very specific positive birthing behaviors and negative ones. This does NOT mean birthing women are doing good/bad things, it means that the positive birthing behaviors show that the birthing woman is coping, managing, dealing with, working with what is happening to her. Negative birthing behaviors are indications she is not coping well. Knowing specifically what are positive and negative behaviors is vitally important to both the birthing woman and her birth coaching partner. Together they can work toward the positive ones,recognize and change when negative behaviors indicate she is meeting challenges during the birth journey.
