Point Wisconsin! The Road To A National Title for Kelly Sheffield & The Wisconsin Badgers

Some three decades after beginning his career as a high school assistant, Kelly Sheffield was at the top of his profession, having coached the University of Wisconsin volleyball team to its first ever NCAA national championship in 2021. The Badgers played in the NCAA title game in his first season, beginning a run that saw them advance to at least the Sweet 16 for eight straight years, including three Final Four appearances. But they had never been able to win that last match, a mission that drew five super seniors to take advantage of an opportunity for an extra season of eligibility to make one last run at the coveted title. They would not be denied this time. Led by that veteran core the Badgers prevailed in two of the most dramatic Final Four matches in history including the national championship match win over Big Ten rival Nebraska.
