PEP COMICS #65 contains the last appearance of THE SHIELD and his spot in PEP COMICS was taken over by the western strip NEVADA JONES, which had been moved over from ZIP COMICS. The Golden Age of superheroes was coming to its end. KATY KEENE, GLOOMY GUS and Li'L JINX and an expanded array of the characters from Riverdale took more prominent roles in the PEP COMICS title.
