Ophelia's Odyssey in Bloomington, MN

Ophelia has just turned fifteen. Shy and taciturn, she is groping with the typical challenges of being a tenth grader. Her greatest impediment in life, however, involves her speech. Ophelia is a stutterer.
Magic is afoot as Ophelia celebrates her birthday. She finds herself mysteriously transported to another realm, one inhabited by humans, and creatures even stranger. She finds herself mistaken for a princess whose magical powers are manifested through her entrancing voice. The inhabitants of the land are depending upon the princess to rescue the kingdom from an evil threat.
Although the story is told from a good vs. evil perspective, taking place in a fantasy setting, it is also the story of a young girl coming to terms with a speech impediment that has colored every facet of her life. By virtue of the events around her, Ophelia is able to discover an inner strength she hadn't realized she possessed. It is an object lesson in what life is like for one who stutters but also discusses ways for people to best communicate with dysfluent speakers.
