The biography 'A Genius of War' and the ensuing movie 'Patton,' are as thrilling and captivating as any fiction novel. That book and movie were part of the inspiration for this book. Without the Americans directly in the war, could the Axis powers have been defeated?
After reading that biography or watching the Oscar-winning movie, I do not believe that anyone could conceive how the Axis could have been defeated without the Americans. I am also sure Churchill, right after Dunkirk, could not conceive how either.
