The role and responsibilities of nurses are changing enormously. This book explores ways in which nurses can be more involved in shaping the development of health policy. It explores the dynamic between policy formulation and policy implementation, and the nurses' role within this. It focuses on the development of public health within the current NHS reforms as well as in the European Union. The contributors identify what knowledge and skills are needed by nurses if their day-to-day experiences are to be used and translated into the central policy-making process.
