I have never been very good at loving the people I love, or at least in the ways that they deserve. I have spent so long battling my own demons, I forgot that there was anything else to life. With months to reflect on years of mistakes and how they led me to this moment, I was determined that I would shape the life I wanted, but first I needed to figure out what it looked like. Armed with access to my insides, I broke long standing rules I had made for myself and tore down walls that no longer served purpose. I took risks, mined for truth and courage, and fell in love with of the parts of my life that I should have been loving all along. Life was an adventure, and for someone who loved surprises, I needed to rewrite the way I saw the uncertainty of life. This is my story, and I was going to be the one to write it. I wrote this thinking it would be the final chapter, but is the story ever truly over? --- North of Dreams is J.L. Fizzell's third poetry collection. While it can be read independent of its two counterparts, North of Dreams is best read last to fully appreciate the journey that lead to it's creation, preferably with a cup of your favourite drink in a cozy corner.
