Sara invites us to join her on a far more personal journey, this time, as she tests her own beliefs in the alternative healthcare practices she's learned of over recent years. Presented with the urgency of "More tests needed right now!" when initial images reveal a lump measuring 4.5 centimetres by 1.2 centimetres in her left breast, she decides to follow a non-standard course or action. Refusing to give in to the fear that can be generated when the "C" word hovers on the horizon, she determinedly envelops herself in a small bubble of positivity, shared by just a handful of trusted friends. With the constant support of her partner, Janne, they embark on a series of Deep Tissue treatment sessions using Janne's elbow as the operating tool - in preference to a knife! The Summer and Autumn of 2023 take on a totally different hue, as Sara draws on all the alternative help she can find. Blessed to discover a neighbouring spiritual healer, as well as a Sound Bath specialist - amongst others - and nurtured by her purring pussycats, her road to recovery begins. It could appear that choosing to live in a quiet seaside town in France might have been a wise decision after all...? This book is shared to offer encouragement, hope, and an alternative approach to an all-too-common problem facing many people today. With no formal medical training, Sara does not presume to tell anyone else what to do. But by sharing from her heart her insights and experiences at this challenging time, she brings a light and (mostly) joyful perspective to unexpected places. This is my Unexpected Journey, and I want to share it with you. Sharing in the same spirit as my first book, "Dream it, Do it ... Why not?". I hope my story - and every word is true - might encourage and inspire you, as you walk your own path. In the same way that I set out on my "Dream it ..." journey of moving to France, I felt that, yet again, I had no prior training or experience to deal with the diagnosis that dropped on me in July 2023. Except, maybe I did? Maybe the lessons I have learned and the teachers I've met (in many disguises) have prepared me for this next step. Having spun around our Sun more than sixty times already, I've formed some ideas and found some beliefs that sound "right" to me. My approach, comments, philosophies, and treatment sessions might not be in agreement with what sounds "right" to you. And that's ok, of course. I invite you to accept whatever fits and disregard the rest. I make no criticism of anyone else's choices to follow a different path. I'm not an expert in anything. I'm simply one woman, who has had to make some tough decisions, and if another Soul can benefit from my experiences - that'll be Might Fine by me!
