Navy Swings

The music on this CD is mostly taken from radio shows in the series "The Navy Swings" performed during 1961-1970. Three different versions of drummer , a top-notch quintet, are featured. The performances are mostly very concise (under three minutes), so solos are brief and sometimes only one horn is featured per song. However, the music is a valuable addition to the discography of such players as , trumpeter , tenor saxophonist , altoist , and pianists and , with four numbers from 's lesser-known 1970 group. ~ Scott Yanow
