She lets her guard down and finds herself in a relationship with the rugged and charismatic Jerome Banks who treats her like a queen. He's likeable, intriguing, and willing to do whatever it takes to keep Carla interested in him. Over time, Carla realizes that life with Jerome is different from anything she could imagine. Carla and Jerome settle into a comfortable routine when an irresistibly savvy Robert Walker enters the picture and turns Carla's life upside down by promising to make her fantasies realities. As time passes Carla outgrows Jerome, who has a hypnagogic hold on her that she can't seem to break. Yet Robert is simply too good to be true.
