My Mom Wears Combat Boots is a short story portraying what an Army mom does through the eyes of her children. From traveling around the globe to telling the Soldier story, her children acknowledge her super-hero like qualities but miss her while she is away. Ruth Gonzalez Castro is an officer in the United States Army and has served for 24 years. Her combat boots have taken her to Japan, Iraq, Texas, Puerto Rico, Colorado Springs and Washington, D.C.
