Hospital staff are increasingly confronted with patients from abroad, with the majority of clients coming from Islamic cultures. Language difficulties and culturally specific perspectives make medical and nursing care more difficult for this patient group. Problems caused by the different understanding of illness and health, interaction with each other in relation to visits from relatives in hospital, communication difficulties, a sense of shame and privacy, dietary regulations and eating culture, hygiene regulations, attitudes to life and death are not uncommon. In order to avoid multiple examinations due to difficulties in taking medical histories, incomplete implementation of treatment recommendations, refusal of rehabilitation measures, longer hospital stays, repeated treatments, lack of patient compliance and higher treatment costs, this book offers suggestions for solutions in dealing with Muslim patients.
