Moses F. Stewart: The War Letters

MOSES F. STEWART enlisted in the US Army on Christmas Eve of 1943. A married man and father of two, he was 36 years old, which led the other soldiers to call him "The Old Man." While providing reinforcement to troops in England and France, he was fortunate to serve without undue hardship. His photos of VE Day in Paris are as vivid as his prose, and his letters reveal a sensitive, intelligent man of strong character who resists the temptation to go home "before the job is done."
