Moomoo and Booboo, two very wise ruru, is a sequel to Moomoo and Booboo and the magical tree. In this book, children learn, Moomoo and Booboo are doctors of a different kind. They help kids with troubled minds. While those troubles are mentioned, and may include being sad, angry, anxious or stressed, they are not focused on. Rather, it is acknowledged anxious thoughts can make it hard for children to get to sleep. So, Moomoo and Booboo's, task is to help Harry, the character in the book, to change his focus from troubled spaces to refocus on happy, glad and calming spaces. They achieve this 'magic' by being transformed themselves at the magical pohutukawa tree. There, they exchange their own camouflaged colours of brownish greens to extraordinary, exotic colours that glow. Then, with their flax kite (basket) filled with colourful delights, they begin to help Harry to refocus, by painting new thinking into his mind. The aim of the book is to further develop the teaching that was introduced in the first book. The key being, as children learn to refocus and think about good, fun and pleasant things this will shift them from sad or unhappy or anxious spaces.
