The self-titled is his second solo album, from 1964. played almost everything on this record -- guitar, banjo, dulcimer, fiddle, autoharp, and French harp -- though is credited with "occasional accompaniment." Aside from his facility on numerous instruments, the most impressive aspect of the record is the breadth of material, including songs sourced from bluesman ("Fishing Blues," speculated in the liner notes of the 2012 reissue to be the likely model for 's version), (the a cappella "Young McAfee on the Gallows"), , , and numerous corners of traditional folk.
